DESCRIPTION AKA Western Hercules Beetle. This species of Rhinoceros beetle has a most unusual camouflage colouring of taupe/grey speckled with a little black thus when hiding under dead tree trunks makes them difficult for predators to disturb. Being nocturnal they are often seen near bright street lights and are one of the largest beetle found in the USA. They feed on tree sap. The female shown does not have the front horn and is slightly smaller than the male.
Not often stocked.
