DESCRIPTION This is a type of phasmid that is native to Southeast Asia from the family Phylliidae. It is a wonderful leaf mimic which serves as an effective deterrent from predators. Their broad legs and body with dried out looking edges resemble dying leaves and they are difficult to spot high up in the canopy. Most males are smaller than the females. Females, like most Phasmids, are generally to bulky for flight. The females have developed, semitransparent forewings and a lack of hind wings. While the males have full length transparent wings, capable of flight.
