The underside of the male wings are black with red and blue spots. This is a large swallowtail with 105mm wingspan. Its native habitat is wet open forest however it has invaded orchards and gardens along the QLD and NSW coastline. It is also found in SA and NT in parts of central QLD. The female lays her eggs on fresh citrus growth the larvae resembling bird droppings.
