DESCRIPTION AKA The Golden Birdwing. Bright citrus yellow and inky black wings. It is a species of butterflies in the family swallowtail butterflies and is active only during the daytime ( diurnal ). Golden Birdwing butterflies are native to the Philippines, where many subspecies can be found on different islands. Both sides of the forewings are black streaked with white, while the hindwings are bright citrus yellow edged with black. The underside of the abdomen is bright yellow, but the rest of the body is black. It is mainly found wherever its host plant Aristolochia grows.
The male is slightly smaller than the female.
