DESCRIPTION Bright emerald green / black wings AKA Priam's Birdwing. The female in contrast is a dull brown and black. This birdwing for sale is not endemic. Ornithoptera priamus euphorion is endemic to Australia. As larva feeds on the poisonous Aristolochia vine it makes this butterfly unpalatable to predators. The careful conservation of its preferred habitats has ensured this butterfly is no longer endangered. This butterfly indeed can also be seen in many gardens if its food plant is provided. It is a very beautiful butterfly and one we are hoping to be able to stock all year round.
This butterfly is farmed and has been imported with permits.
Regards Ornithoptera richmondia - endemic to Australia - it is very similar to the O.poseidon that we are offering for sale.
As this item is a natural product some slight imperfections maybe present. Please note there is no Male icon on species name

Care
All frames are professionally prepared and fumigated for a minimum of six months prior to sale. While every precaution is taken, museum mites may occasionally occur.
Prevention is better than the cure! To help protect your collection, we strongly recommend placing your display in the freezer for one week each year. Regular inspection and monitoring are also recommended to help preserve your specimen for many years to come.
To minimise fading, avoid direct or reflected sunlight. Please also protect your display from extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Glass may shatter if dropped. Hang only using the hook provided.
